This course introduces students to the principles and practices of academic writing. Designed for postgraduate students, it will help them improve their writing skills, starting from paragraph writing, moving to essay writing, and finally to research proposal writing. The course follows a process approach to writing, where students practice brainstorming, peer feedback, editing, and drafting. It also focuses on the basics of good academic writing, with direct lessons on how to write topic sentences, thesis statements, and outlines. In addition, the course introduces students to the main parts of a research proposal, including the research question, objectives, methodology, and literature review. At this level, emphasis is placed on critical thinking, academic integrity, and the conventions of scholarly communication.
