Speech recognition is one of the applications of artificial intelligence, and more specifically, it is often approached as a pattern recognition problem. It involves recognizing speech spoken by a speaker, acquired in the form of an analog signal, with the goal of producing the equivalent text. This course introduces the discipline by presenting the inherent challenges and detailing the steps of a generic speech recognition process. Since this subject is taught as part of a Master's program in Artificial Intelligence, we present, at the end of the course, methods related to AI, particularly those from machine learning and deep learning.
